Digital Health Minor
Description
The Digital Health Minor is an 18 credit hour minor offered from the Healthcare Operations Management (HOM) program within the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences. The Digital Health minor will prepare students with knowledge and skills to leverage technology for improved healthcare outcome. Within the Jesuit and Mercy values of the university, students will explore health in the community, digital health informatics, and project management. Students will understand how to apply technological skills in the healthcare setting through case studies and team-based projects improving client outcomes. This minor is designed to augment other healthcare majors like Health Sciences, Sports and Exercise Sciences, and Nursing. This minor is also designed for non-healthcare majors like Business Administration, Cybersecurity, and Biomedical Engineering students who will work in healthcare or closely with healthcare professionals.

Expected Learning Outcomes
A minor in Digital Health aims to provide students with skills and knowledge to augment a student’s major degree that will be useful in a healthcare setting. A minor in Digital Health will give students knowledge and skills to understand and use digital tools and analytics to improve client outcomes in a variety of healthcare settings.
Expected learning outcomes for the minor are:
- Students will integrate digital communication and knowledge of healthcare regulations to address the changing nature of the healthcare environment, healthcare organizations and the healthcare workforce
- Demonstrate ethical reasoning, critical thinking, and a commitment to compassion and social justice within a variety of healthcare systems
- Analyze digital technologies and data-driven innovations to improve care quality and optimize operations in a variety of healthcare settings

- HOM 3200 Strategic Planning and Marketing in Healthcare (3 credits)
- HOM 3300 Health in Community (IT3) (3 credits)
- HOM 4010 Digital Health Informatics (3 credits)
- HOM 4011 AI and Machine Learning in Healthcare (3 credits)
- HOM 4012 Data-Driven Knowledge Discovery and Storytelling (3 credits)
- HOM 4013 Project Management of Digital Health (3 credits)
ETH 3580 Health Care Ethics is recommended for the F1 requirement within the student's major.
